Basic knowledge of skin-3

In Basic knowledge of skin-3, let’s take a look at the Skin appendages

3. Skin appendages

1) Sebaceous Gland

– Sebaceous glands are accessory organs that secrete sebum on the surface of the skin and are located in the dermis layer.
– It secretes lipids on the surface of the skin, gives shine to the hair and prevents a drop in body temperature.
– It is present in the skin of the whole body except the palms and soles.
– Sebum is produced from Trichocyst through side pressure, and an average of 1~2g of sebum per day is released through the pores.
– If sebum cannot be discharged out through the pores and comedones, a kind of lump of sebum, is trapped in the hair follicles, and acne is caused by infection with bacteria.
– Humidity, temperature, and nutrition in the hair follicle provide the best conditions for bacteria to survive and reproduce.
– Sebaceous glands protect against bacteria and fungi, and their secretion function weakens during menopause.

2) Sweat glands

– Sweat glands are located in the dermal layer of the skin, exist only in mammals, and about 2 to 4 million are formed in the human body and secrete sweat.
– Capillaries surround sweat glands, and waste products and water filtered from the blood are sent to the sweat glands from the capillaries to produce sweat.
– The secretion of sweat is about 500 ~ 700ml per day, and when exercising in midsummer, about 10L is secreted.
– Sweat glands excrete waste and moisture out of the body, absorb heat around the skin and evaporate it to lower body temperature and maintain a constant body temperature.

3) Capillaries

– It is 8~20 um in diameter, and it is a net-like thin blood vessel that connects arterioles and venules and is entangled like a net inside the tissues of the whole body.
– Blood passing through the heart and arteries supplies oxygen and nutrients to the body’s tissues through capillaries.
